Plot
Derek Medeiros returns from playing basketball with the local kids. But when he returns to his apartment, he finds his younger brother Matt bleeding in the ribs. Matt refuses to disclose what happened and refuses to go to the authorities. As Derek leads his brother out of the building, they narrowly avoid the local gang, who are apparently after Matt. Derek takes Matt to a local hospital where he's an orderly and convinces his co-worker, Trudy Vargas, to discreetly treat the gunshot. However, while he's waiting, Derek notices one of the gangmembers entering the hospital; the gang tracked them down after noticing papers about the hospital. Derek wrestles with him over the gun, accidentally getting Trudy shot, though she survives. This quickly goes to the SRU, who tries to contain the situation at the hospital. They do a profile on Derek, who was once involved with gang until his mother was killed and he tried turning his life around. And both brothers distrust cops after their mother's murderer was released without evidence. While Derek and Matt evade the gang disguised as orderlies, the former learns that his brother witnessed an execution of a rival gangleader. While two gangmembers are apprehended, Derek thinks to kill the leader but relents at the last minute before SRU shows up. However, police radio chatter convinces Matt that his brother had been shot. He pulls a gun out of his bag and goes to kill the gangleader but is talked out of it by Ed.
